This year has been an amazing one, full of challenges, new experiences, and a lot of FUN! Josie has just completed 6th grade and we can hardly believe she will be going to Jr. High next year.
This year she participated in many things, he main one being she was part of our Elementary Ballroom team. She has a love of Ballroom and a love of expressing yourself through this medium. She has always loved to sing and dance! This was a 3 term commitment and she went to every before school practice with a smile on her face. This was her second year as a part of this team and she learned a lot! I know she will miss this very much.
For those of you who know her you know that she is a very sweet and funny girl. She is friends with everyone, of course she has her own favorites that she spends time with but she tries to find the good in everyone and she will forgive and forgive. On the last day of school there is an assembly and we received a letter that Josie would be getting an award. She received the American Citizenship award.
The day before she also received this award. She was chosen by her teacher as Peace Builder of the year. A peace builder Praises people, Gives up put downs, Seeks wise people, Notice Hurts, and Rights wrongs. That is definitely her! We are so proud of you !

The End of another year--2008-2009
She also was a part of Central Singers. This is the schools performing and competing choir. She met so many people and made new friends who share her love of singing. She is looking forward to being a part of it next year.
Xander, wow this had been a pivotal year for him. He really struggled learning to be a student.
Now don't get me wrong he is such a sweet and good boy. He just wasn't so sure about sitting still in class, following directions and listening to his teacher. He is a social little bug. No matter who his teacher sat him by he would talk to them. We were very lucky this year to have such a wonderful teacher who was willing to work with him and teach him how to be a student.
This year he also learned to read fluently and will now look at word and try to figure them out. He is a very good reader. He was required to learn 100 fry sight words and phrases, by the end of the year he surpassed that and finished 600 words and 600 phrases.
On the last day of school his teacher had them fill out a favorites sheet, and I want to share that here. He is such a sweet and curious boy!

I love favorites quizzes for kids. It's so fun to see how their minds are spinning. Looks like a busy fun year!
I laughed that Xander wants to see "An Explosion" this summer.
Did you know that he was Sam's first grade buddy? Sam had a lot of fun with him. He loves Xander!
