Childspree

On Saturday I had a wonderful opportunity to participate in a program called Childspree partnerships with Mervyns. It was AMAZING! In short this is a program that assists children on getting school clothes for going back to school. We got there at about 6:15a on Saturday and listened to a quick orientation on what we needed to do and we were given a list of things that we couldn't get. For example tank tops, shorts that don't follow school dress code.
We were then paired up with a child, mine was a 8 yr old girl named Sierra. She was a little shy at first but then the real her came out shortly later. She was an artist and had definite opinions on what she liked. She loved B&W and interesting patterns and colors. Then as we were trying on clothes I got assigned another little girl, also 8 named Ashley. She was so opposite and loved lime green and pink and she was more girly than Sierra. But it was so sweet how Sierra listened to what she liked and went and grabbed more clothes for Ashley to try on.
Mervyns gave a $100 dollar gift card and then added an additional 15% off on purchases. How very generous huh? And they also gave them a backpack, toy, new book and toothbrush. There were over 150 children there and they were very excited to be there! One of my girls, Sierra said so this is what they mean by "Shop till ya drop" and laughing I answered yes. I didn't know this, but if any of you are interested in donating to this cause you can purchase the Sprocket puppies at Mervyns for $5 dollars and 100% of proceeds goes to Childspree. And of course you can hit there website where you can also make a donation.
If any of you are interested in doing this let me know, I have an in with Brent Severe who is in charge and they would love volunteers.
