August--Lets catch up

August has been a really busy month, full of fun! It started off actually at the end of July, right after Music Camp. We had a couple of days and we went to Girls Camp. I say WE because I volunteered to go. I thought since it was Josie's first year and it was Shay's third, I couldn't pass up this opportunity to be with them. Girls Camp is one of the places that I know my testimony grew as a young woman, and I wanted to see that in my own girls and share my love with them of Girls camp.

We were there from July 28th-31st and it just flew by. I didn't get to spend as much time with the girls as I had hoped, but I did get to see them in another element. I was so busy because I was assisting the camp cook, who as it turns out was my sweet friend Shelly. We worked harder than I could have imagined, but we had a great time! Feeding 40 people, 3 meals a day is no small task, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. I learned so much!

I missed my boys a ton, David was able to take off a little time and be a stay at home Dad. I think he loved it! There was a bit of laundry though because Xan wasn't feeling well. (Of course that always happens! lol) It was so good to see them! Shortly after we got home David went to Boys Scout camp, but just for the night.

Then on August 1, we had David's sister's in town from Chicago and Connecticut.

We were busy!! We had every day filled while they were here. We went to the Roy Aquatics center, bowling, the Drive-in, Pineview Dam, the Uintahs and lunch at Golden Corral. I know the Golden Corral doesn't sound like an activity, but if you watch the grand kids there, YOU WOULD AGREE IT IS AN ACTIVITY! It is so funny to watch them, go back and forth filling up their plates. Besides IT IS a tradition, and Larsen's grasp on to their traditions!

Our evenings were usually filled with the family hanging out at our house. We all would chip in on dinner and enjoy each others company, or or watch a TV show on DVR.

So late nights and often early mornings, can you ask for a better 'staycation'?

Joss Whedon is one of our families favorite writers and directors. Some of his past work include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Firefly to name a few. So while the family was here we watched Season 1 of "Dollhouse". It was so good! Twists and turns with unexpected moments.

This is David giving synopsis:

The dollhouse is a secret organization that provides a service for the rich and powerful. They provide humans programmed to successfully fulfill any function the customer needs, be it love, murder, guard, spy, negotiator or friend. They do this through use of a technology that wipes the brain of the 'doll' operatives. They become who they are programmed to be and what more they believe they are that person. The show deftly explores ideas about what we really want as people while exploring the idea of what makes a person a person. Is it the collection of our memories, personality traits and weaknesses or is there more to a person's soul? It also raises the question of what are the repercussions of being able to reprogram a person.
All the while we laughed at the jokes and loved the action. It is a slow story in the first few episodes but as it grows it really is fun and makes you think. We highly suggest it. But if you start you have to get to episode six or we will hunt you down and duct tape you to a couch, prying your eyelids open with toothpicks. (maybe we are joking, don't test us.)

I'm checking blogs for the first time in months! I love that you guys did lots of fun activities with Davids sister. My sister is actually going to be up here on Tuesday, so I'm gearing up for a bit of that myself. Although slightly cut off at the knees because Eli will be in school now. oh well.

And just want to tell your girls they did a great job on their music camp stuff. I know that was forever ago, but I hadn't read that post either. I'm so awful!! You have such great girls though. Your house is always my first go-to for babysitters. ;)
